Getting Ready for Deep Practice

Before you begin your meditation journey with us, let's make sure you have everything needed for a meaningful experience. Taking time to prepare properly makes all the difference.

Essential Setup Requirements

Creating the right environment isn't just about having a quiet room – though that certainly helps. You'll want to think about consistency, comfort, and removing the small distractions that can pull you away from deep focus. Most people underestimate how much their physical setup affects their practice.

Dedicated Space

A corner, chair, or cushion that becomes yours. Same spot each time helps your mind settle faster.

Comfortable Seating

Whether it's a meditation cushion, regular chair, or even a folded blanket – just make sure your back feels supported.

Timer or App

Something that lets you forget about time completely. Phone timers work fine, but keep the device face-down.

Light Blanket

Your body temperature drops slightly during longer sessions. Having something nearby prevents distraction.

Your Preparation Timeline

Week Before Starting (March 2025)

Begin adjusting your sleep schedule if needed. Try sitting in your chosen spot for just 5-10 minutes daily to get comfortable. Notice what distracts you – traffic sounds, household noise, your own restless thoughts. This isn't meditation yet, just observation.

3 Days Before

Test your timer and any apps you plan to use. Make sure your space feels right – adjust lighting, remove visual clutter. Tell people in your household about your practice schedule so they can help maintain quiet during your sessions.

Day of First Session

Eat lightly beforehand but don't practice on an empty stomach. Turn off notifications on nearby devices. Set your intention for the practice – not goals or expectations, just a gentle commitment to being present with whatever comes up.
